Some of you may remember the recent environment agency consultation on the taking of fish from rivers. Pike anglers were concerned about the proposed new laws preventing the removal of fish from rivers. It seems that the EA has listened to our concerns and will allow the taking of a small number of fish for personal use as bait.

We had a fish-in today up near Retford. About 10 of us took part. Former Notts RO & well known Piker Phil Kirk was the only person to get a run! The Pike managed to bite him off through his braid.... So, nobody caught, apart from a force 8 gale and loads of weed

We are having a charity fish-in in November, Chico and Lincoln region PAC are invited. We are praying for a better day next time.

I know it's late in the season for a lure but would have expected some follows at least. (may be I have just lost the touch or more likley forgotten how)

Anyways, are there any lure fishing members who haunt the Fens / St Ives / Cambs area who would can help me out?

Some joker reckons he's caught a 57lb pike from Oulton Hall pond...

I'd like to believe that there are some massive uncaught monsters out there...but a 57lber from Oulton Hall...

Trent Piker catches some Pike at this venue too. I was fishing a 12mm Halibut pellet on the edge of some fast water, well slower than normal, the Trent is low & clear at the moment!

I had a sharp Chub like bite that i missed by a mile. All went quiet so i reeled in after a few minutes to check the bait was still on

Being fairly new to the pike fishing game, I've had most of my success with the black or red flying C. If I'm having no luck whatsoever, I'll throw out the "C" and 80% of the time I'll get some action.

I've also had regular catches with this type of lure (excuse my ignorance on naming this):

I visited the town tackle shop & renewed a missing feeder or two etc... Shop was staffed by a lady. Very friendly so I got chatting about fishing around there. Two rivers pass through the town. Both contain Pike, plenty too she says, the local Match fishermen have a lot of 'keepnet' visits from them.

had a few hours on the river using surface lures yesterday ( had 3 nice mid to high singles ) but was upset by TWO of the brand new drennon spin traces i bought yesterday braking at the lure clip when hit by a fish.

not only did this result in two expensive lures being lost , the pike may still have the lure attached!

i was wondering if anyone else has had issues with these traces as once could be a fluke but twice in one day must be poor product / workmanship.

i know if some one asked me the same question i would say stay while the goings good, but i cant help thinking it might just not be the best thing for these fish as there are a number of others fishing for them also. any one got any thoughts?

Wobbled Dead-Bait under float?

Hi all,

I'm going for a mornings piking armed with dead-baits.

I've only got a few hours so don't want to sit behind static baits, preferring mobile tactics, i.e. wobbled dead-baits.

The weir-pool I intend to fish is rather snaggy and it's easy to loose baits and tackle if you're not careful.

WIth this Im thinking I might wobble the baits under a float set 18-inches off bottom and away from the snags...

What's your thoughts please, do you think it will reduce the action ...

The Angling Times recon this pike is 67lb

If correct it beats the previous biggest by 12 pounds.
