Well,

with me being a progressing angler i'm always in search of improvements and It's not just me.

I have search on the video website 'youtube' and there seems to be videos of people talking s**t!

Nothing about rigs and vital improvements suggestions..............

well i have asked santa for a camcorder and he said yes i am haveing one.

so i'm gonna make a whole load of videos with more informative contents i.e. rigs, improvement and of 'coarse' the species

last season i bought four of these off Mark Berrisford in the six inch size now after playing with them for six months or so i feel i can comment on them

as a glider they are fairly easy to work with downward taps getting them swapping direction, throw a pause in and they hang for a while before sinking slowly you can fish them more erraticaly to get some rise dive effect too but its not something i do a great deal of with these. fishing them on a straight retrieve gives the bait a gentle ...

the smuttly db series these come in 4,5. and six inch versions, although they may go bigger these are what i have

this is a US bait that is available from http://www.chicoslures.co.uk/index.php

again the db's are a glide bait, which have a little shimmy when retrieved

these lures have fantastic finishes with a epoxy finish and are unusually for these style of lures through wired

the smaller 4 inch size are not on the site i ordered mine specially ...

not another lure review i hear you cry

well for a few years now ive been using the Ace sweetshads in both sizes 66 and 150 these numbers relate to the weight of the lure so if your tempted by the 150 make sure your rod/reel/braid combo is up to throwing five ounces of lure

ok to start with the larger of the two these are quite wide swinging glidebaits that either float or sink very slowly.

they have a huge prescence in the water and with the usual pulls and taps you can make this ...

Shakespeare Mentor Twin-Tip

I just bought the Shakespeare Mentor Twin-Tip (10'6") which has the usual multi-purpose Avon-Bomb type tip and a quiver tip. It comes in at around £40 but I managed to get one for £22 which is a bargain in my eyes. The finish is so nice, I reckon you could easily pass it off as a rod worth 3 times the price. It's really that nice and by God it's light. I can't recall the maximum casting weight but it suggests a line max of 8lbs. Make of that what you will.

The Avon top could be used ...

personally i've used it since the start of my piking career and found it to be ultra reliable...... UNTIL THIS SEASON. i bought a new spool back in september last year in 24lb b/s, and re-did all my used traces with it. since then i've had traces part on snags inbetween the swivel and the hooks (as opposed to my 15lb daiwa sensor mainline) on no less than 4 occasions under less strain than i would put on a heavyweight fish, this has really worried me that drennan have let their quality slip with ...

I picked up a 10 metre spool of Linea Effe trace wire from a local tackle shop a few months ago and made some lure traces with it.

You can see it at Sovereign Superbaits

It is a really nice wire that stands up to the repeated use of lure fishing and does not kink badly like the usual 7 strands do. I have had multiple catches on one trace with no sign of damage.

My only complaint is it only came with 12 crimps so I have had to buy some more. Not complaining though as it is inexpensive ...

Being the forum's only "Tackle Tart", (apart fom Piking Pirate, i understand) I will post the forum's 1st review on the new review thread

I normally take my rods & reels right down into component parts & completely set them up again . After fishing with Adie1200, S French, A Webster, Nickcarpy, Mad Bad & Co. & being the last to set up & take down my gear, i decided to have a go at leaving the rods & reels assembled, pretty well.. as a time saver.
