River Carp
Spotted some whopping great carp in the river whilst chucking lures about today and wondered if there were any perticular methods, above the usual, for carp in such a water. Will the standard hair rigged boilies/meat/pellets do or do I need a re think?

Re: River Carp
get good bed of hemp down to hold the fish in the area. river carp move a lot and use plenty of bait, as most of it will be eaten by other fish. maize and corn would be a good start. normal carp tackle is fine, just make sure you use enough lead to hold bottom.

Re: River Carp
yer i agree big weights to hold bottom if fast flowing, whould bait up for a week or two to keep fish in area and get them confident, also i whould use hemp, pellets and boilies to bait up wid .

agree with whats been said, hemp an corn[nice an cheap]to bait up with to hold fish.then a nice gluged boile[spicy chicken or shrimp an prawn]seem to do well on rivers.also tip the boilies with a bit of fake corn.dont be afraid to use 5or 6 oz leads to hold bottom.also i find longer hook lenghts [3 ft long] work for me.just keep it simple mate an good luck
