Tench Advice

Post  Chumley Warner on Sun May 17, 2009 3:46 pm

Found a little pond i never knew existed tother day and saw some good tench (up to about 5lb) rolling.
Any advice on rigs/bait/feeding habbits/etc would be helpfull as Ive never specifically targeted them.

Cheers Folks, Chumley.

Cheers mate, Ive only ever had small ones to about 2lb. Didnt half give my elastic a workout. They went straight for the sunken trees every time and were a real pain in the scratch to keep out.

Will deffo be going back in the near future.

They are lethargic bottom huggers until they feel a hook, then they fight! They are like a stillwater Barbel Razz

I used to love fishing for them. My second favourite fish after old toothy Very Happy
Had many a night fishing for them, on a float in an old disused canal near here. Sweetcorn as bait, no great size but usually between 1-3lb. They always make straight for the nearest weedbed & can't half scrap! Rolling Eyes
