Do you ever read an Angler's Times article about something and you know in your heart, you'll never get to do it?

It'll say....

"Monster Tench Fishing In a Private Farm That Plebs Can't Use"

You'll read with complete wonderment about how some bloke sets out with a spinning rod, some 3lb line, a packet of rusty hooks and a tub of worms and you'll think,

"What is this loony all about?"

The bloke then parks his behind next to some bush overhanging a little pond the size of paddling pool and he flicks out a flippin' Campbell's Meatball. He counts to 10. Seconds that is mind. Not 10 hours like we do and then what happens? He's not only into a fish. He's into a flippin' 14lb Tench or something.

You think,

"Where is this bloke?? I've been fishing my heart out for over 25 years and the best you can do me is a perch.

Honestly. Where is it these guys go fishing. I'm game for anything....lol

I recently opened a Facebook account via a link on Trent Pikers Blog. I was soon in touch with an old schoolmate who had viewed my pages & had seen posts between Trent Piker, Phil Kirk & I about Pike fishing. He said "I'm not into Pike but may be interested in fishing for Carp, Barbel etc".... Whats up with Pike!..? Shocked I must ask him..
I have now frozen the account because I was getting all sorts of things on my pages about online games like 'Mafia Wars' & Dungeons & Castles etc.... which is NOT my kinda thing. Surprised IMHO there is a lot of crap on it. It does put you in touch with folk, mind you. Smile

I was pretty miffed at some of the comments in that article.

Some of the best and most responsible anglers i know are pike fishermen, and if the comments in that article are a correct reflection on how other sections of the angling community feel about us then i'm pretty shocked to be honest.

Personally though i feel it is not a true reflection of how things are - at least not in the parts of the country that i fish.
