Re: Anybody catching?
Ditto Steve.
MBA - I have in the past used Drennan and late last season bought a roll of Fox Easy Twist purely cos that's all they had in at the time. Pleased with it so far, but never had any problems with the Drennan. In fact I have a roll of Drennan in 14lb (I think) which I use for ultra light lures when targeting perch on the canal. Again, never a problem with it.
I think it's just one of those unexplainable things but would probably test the trace out by seeing how easy you can snap it and if you think it's too easy to snap then contact Drennan with your concerns.
All the best matey and don't worry yourself sick over the lost fish.

yeah drennan do appear to have had a bad batch of wire go out in the last year.... several traces i made off a spool of the stuff i bought last september (24lb b/s) were twisted up good and proper when i wound back in to check baits last season (this i assume was due to baits spinning on the cast/retrieve as they were fresh off the spool)... also had one part just below the swivel on a snag with very little pressure on it!! i've changed to 30lb fox easy twist now and all in all it seems like a much better wire

Re: Anybody catching?
i had it with one spool drennan 7 strand coated. swiched to the uncoated so i can check the wire better.
someone else will catch it, then put it to rights for you

sounds good fella. I have a couple of places in mind too that i'll be willing to devote a bit of time too this season

Re: Anybody catching?
I was out Monday and Tuesday, a few dropped runs and managed five fish the biggest 14lbs, it was great to be out and a good result
The fish were all very lightly hooked, it was as if they couldnt be bothered, saying that they all give a good account of themselves, roll on the weekend.

Re: Anybody catching?
Lovely stuff Patch. Word of advice though.
Turn off all the headlamps, torches and other sources of light, even little fires or barbecues before you or your mate takes a picture. I've seen countless good fish pictures wasted because the light meter - flash can't cope with what it's trying to measure and you get glowing flanks, odd colours, complete darkness, white light and all manner of unusual stuff going on.
It's actually a good idea to get a Gardener Camera Adaptor (for banksticks) and have your camera set up and ready to take a snap. Aim it at something a brolly or a tree or something that isn't going to move and then do a test pose with the timer. That way, once you have your prized fish on the bank, you just set the timer, pose with your fish and let the camera do all the hard work an believe me, the results will be far better.
Nice fish mate. Just a pity it looks like it came from Sellafield....
