should i stay, or should i go?

Post  MAD BAD ANGLER on Fri Sep 25, 2009 8:34 pm

hi guys. well last 2 trips out have been to the same venue, different pegs but same area. had some nice fish, and runs as well Very Happy Very Happy , question is do i stay on the same venue while its fishing well, or do i move to a new water and risk blanking? Sad Sad
i know if some one asked me the same question i would say stay while the goings good, but i cant help thinking it might just not be the best thing for these fish as there are a number of others fishing for them also. any one got any thoughts?

Would it be worth talking to the fishery owner(s) and asking them to set up, for example, a ticket system?

That way they are (sort of) preventing pressurising the pike.

If the owner is a fisherman (probably not) who understands these things he may realise it could actually do his business good as word will get round about the quality of fishing there.

It could however make things worse and poaching could become a problem Crying or Very sad

Tough one that MBA. At the end of the day, it's your call.

You, my friend, understand the pike, it's lifestyle and how to fish and handle them correctly. Others may not be as knowledgeable or caring as you.

Tough question

Keep fishing if the fish seem to be ok and the venue is not suffering with litter and damage and also, if you dont mind competing with others for the best pegs.

I hate fishing busy places and would not fish there if it was a race to get there first.

Most of all you should make you own mind up.

Good fishing mate

this venue is a small club water, does get a fair amount of pressure, but for the most part it is well looked after. i will move on for now and return later in the season this was my intention from the start, i just put the post on as a thought really more than a direct question (thinking out loud lol! yes i do think sometimes) have been pleased to see though that all posts had the fish in mind, and no one saying "go on, catch all you can while you can" fish welfare is THE most important factor everyone should consider every time they go fishing.
well done guys. all the best....

Fill your boots mate and don't listen to the naysayers with their 'one venue' nonsense. It might not last, so have fun while you can. After all, that was the point of fishing. It's meant to be fun.
