125cc Bike Licence

Post  Trent Piker on Wed Sep 16, 2009 7:11 pm

I used to ride a 100cc GP100 Suzuki 20 odd years ago on a provisional licence with L plates but I suspect things have changed since then.

Today, If I wanted to ride a 125cc bike or moped would I need to take training and CBT tests even though I've had a full car licence for over 20 years

Anyone know?

Cheers Adie, I'm a bit confused I've looked around the net and some sites say I can only ride up to 50cc on a car licence, while other sites say I'm alright up to 125cc

I'm sure you can ride a moped without L plates but you can ride a 125cc with L plates

Heres more info on the CBT rules

Cheers lads, I've just had a chat with a bloke in the bike shop and all I can ride at the moment is a 50cc moped Crying or Very sad I'll need to take compulsory basic training (CBT) which is a days training, about £100 then I can ride upto 125cc. The CBT pass will last me 2 years I will then need to do another CBT or full test.

Those Busa's look tasty wouldn't mind one of these
