Summer hols

Post  Lefty on Tue Aug 04, 2009 10:07 pm

Not going to the coast this year for our hols but going to Flamingo Land for a week. Usually take my spinning tackle with me and try out local ponds, rivers, lakes etc and even harbours or off rocks. Never had any luck in the salt water though No

Does anybody know if there's a pond/lake at Flamingo Land than can be fished? I've been told both yes and no so understandably confused.

Our lass says I'm not allowed because we are going for an adrenaline fuelled roller coaster ride holiday with the kids but what's more of an adrenaline rush than landing a monster fish on water you've never been to before? tongue

The rides don't bother me really (except for big wheel type rides pale ) but it would be nice to be able to have an hour or two in the evening to wind down.

Just to answer my own question, done a search and there is a "well stocked 9 acre lake".

Even better, it apparently looks like it's free to fish for the people who are holidaying there.

Apparently some good fish in there including big tench and plenty of eels.

There's also a stream running by that you can fish that holds trout, grayling, dace and pike.

Yippee!! Very Happy

Got back today and have to report bad news.

Our lass supervised the loading up of the trailer tent and car just to make sure the fishing tackle never went with us. BOO HOO Crying or Very sad

Have to say that I never saw anybody on the banks of the lake all week. And the water was a horrible dark green/brown colour.

The rides were fantastic. After spending over an hour in the queues, that is.

Really liked Kumali and Velocity. Mumbo Jumbo was having a lot of teething troubles so left that one out. The Lost River was boring until right at the end when you get absolutely drenched.

Weather was ok until yesterday when we had a thunderstorm and hail with LOTS of rain.

I would go back again but a week was too long I think as every day was beginning to be 'samey'. And the crowds were extremely annoying.

Give me the quiet tranquility of a river/lake/pond bank over the crowds anyday. Smile
