Billy's Back Biter Alarms

I don't have a review to give on these, but i am wanting to know if any members use them as i'm thinking of parting with some hard earned cash for a couple.

Are they worth it?

I have a pair of them......only had them about 7 months but I can't fault them.

They have been out in all conditions including torrential rain and they have not let me down.

i use them, and will be getting a couple more in the next few weeks, there brilliant mate ,they are indestructable, i also have fox drop offs and they are nothing but hassle, would also reccomend getting volume control on them

what hassle have you had mate?? the only problem i've had with mine (fox micron p's) has been the line gate and i've fixed that

i've seen videos of billy's back biters and they look the bizz, but having not used them i cant really comment further

I agree Rob, they are fine apart from the original line gate. One beauty of them is that the alarm dissengages when you lift your rod & strike. (And miss the fish, in Bazz's case! )
The Billy's alarm seems to be a high tech., high quality copy of the ET Backbiter alarm to me...

you shouldnt have had any problems though if it was decent quality , on one of mine that was only 8 month old the wire had to be pushed up from underneath alarm body to hear alarm tone, which could not be fixed so was useless ,on the other micron slightly newer than other,same problem as yourself line gate knacked { seems to be a problem for a lot of people}, also battery compartment cover snapped, e-mailed fox their customer service is crap, never replied, you certainly couldnt stick a fox drop off in your bag at the end of a trip by the time you got home it would be in bits,a billy backbiter would take a lot more abuse and will outlast a micron easily, for the money i expect it to last a bit longer with no problems,

i always thought the battery compartment cover looked a bit weak on them.... but i've had both of mine over a year and have always been very particular about the way i put them in the pockets on the edge of my bag so upto now i havent had a problem with either the cover or the wire.
anyway this is supposed to be about billys backbiters

just be carefull with the battery cover mate they are a bit fragile ,thats the problem i want an alarm that you can toss in the bag at the end of a trip with confidence that it wont fall apart by the time you unpack your gear, the billy backbiter fits the bill,

the best by far that are avaiable currently are the backbiters the only downside to them i can see and it wont affect everyone i that they are not overly loud
for something a little different and if you only fish deads try these
