i also use fox swingers, and always have them up front. place the swinger under your alarm then screw it onto your bank stick.
after casting out, wind in the slack line (not too tight though) and place your rod on the bank sticks.
now clip the line into the swingers line clip and let it hang down. this will tighten up your line.
now you need to set the swinger into a position so it will show drop back runs and normal runs. if you think of a clock face i set mine to about 4 o'clock or if you prefer about 120 degrees. you can do this by putting the bait runner on then either let line out to drop the swinger, or wind line on to the spool to lift the swinger.
this done make sure line is in the alarm correctly, and turn the alarm on.
you can fish straight of the baitrunner, or like me you can use a run clip and fish with the bailarm open.
hope this helps you out abit. Very Happy Very Happy Very Happy Very Happy

Just to add...
Pikebob the rule of thumb is rear alarms are for Pike and front alarms for everything else.
But thats only a generalisation as you can still use front alarms for pike Very Happy
