Hemp anyone? Empty Hemp anyone?

Post  Alex Makk on Mon May 17, 2010 2:34 pm

I have seen it in the shops and in various fishing articles...... but i have not yet to buy and use some for fishing.. Neutral Neutral I also know if you grow it yourself you more likely to be knocked on the door by local beat bobby
Hemp anyone? C_71_article_1012552_image_list_image_list_item_0_image

Anyone got anything to say on the stuff?

Is it more of a loose feed or groundbait additive?

is it worth having a kilo/tin/portion when going fishing?

hemp is an absolute must for me when carping these days - they love it, its cheap if you prepare it yourself (£18 for 25kg), it keeps the carp actively looking and rooting for food in my experience and they will hang around a swim much longer if there is hemp about.

I like to mix mine with a tin of corn per kilo and some chilli oil to add a bit more zing.

I will now even fish that fake hemp direct on the hook (about 10 pieces on a size 8 ) over a bed of it in the margins - awesome for stalking.

Also if you are after big bags of roach you can't go wrong with it - 1 piece pushed onto the shank of a size 20 Very Happy

Dunno about Carp & Hemp but what TooTall says doesn't surprise me...

Its a sure fire Roach bait, used to fish it as he says, on a 20 hook on the Trent.
Also, Casters & Hemp mixed with a single Caster on the hook, deadly! Get your C Pin out & have a go below Gunthorpe weir.

A bed of Hemp supposed to attract Barbel too...

Hemp is Brilliant stuff Very Happy Very Happy
Carp love it Bream love it Roach love it as do Barbel Chub ........ I could go on but i think you get my drift lol!
Its one of the best attractors for most fish in my opinion Wink
I've got loads in the garage ready and waiting for the next outing or ten Very Happy Very Happy

Use it mixed in with your groundbait or on its own
If you can get the roach going on it you can Really bag up on the rivers with one or two seeds on the hook and feeding regular with a dozen or so seeds ( i start off with a few good hand fulls to get them interested )
Another way if after carp is to super glue 6 or more seeds on a hair rig Wink

Try it MaKK you will love it Very Happy Very Happy

Used to use them both on the Trent years ago with good results But i've not fished it much over the last 20 years Shocked

Makk, you can get about 10 kilos of raw, uncooked hemp for around £15 and that goes a hell of a long way, plus you get all the juices from the cooking process to add to your groundbait.

in use hemp for just about every type of fishing i do. got a 20kg sack, and just cook up a couple of pounds at a time as i need it. one thing you can do with hemp that really does work is after you have cooked it put it in a blender with some water and blitz it for a min or two. tip it in a bottle or similar, then when you go fishing use it to mix your ground bait up with instead of using water. Wink Wink Wink Wink

It shouldn't smell that bad if you rinse the hemp after soaking it. It's only a pulse after all. No worse than lentils or peas.
