Re: fishing loch awe
I think you should have your own info page for all the Lochs you have fished Andy,
Re: fishing loch awe
I meant if anyone had any ideas, they should reply to Davyson54 by PM.
I don't know Awe intimately at all. I know a few areas reasonably well but it's a long way to go, even for me. I fish closer to home. In fact, some of my best waters are about 10 minutes drive from my house, so there really isn't any need for me to go to Awe. To get to the best parts of Awe, you have to drive right round the loch and being a large as it is, that can be the best part of 3 hours from Glasgow!! It's a long way to blank...lol...
Loch Awe is the third largest freshwater loch in Scotland with a surface area of 38.5 square kilometres (14.9 square miles). It is the longest freshwater loch in the UK, measuring 41 kilometres (25.47 miles)from end to end with an average width of 1 kilometre (0.62 miles).
It's MAHOOSIVE!!!

Re: fishing loch awe
Walking the length of Lomond was bad enough
I walked the West Highland Way a few years ago eg.. about 12
Bought a guide book, the walk is approx 104mls, from Milngavie north of Glasgow up to Fort William. The guide book recommended walking along the river (Kelvin?) if travelling to Milngavie from the city centre, rather than a bus / taxi ride up the 8ish miles to Milngavie. So, we got off at the railway station in the City & took the guides advice. Wow! What advice, we saw Kingfishers and all sorts of wildlife BEFORE we started the main walk
Anyways, we walked along the shore of the loch, quite literally and encountered midges along the way, as well as some 'wild goats' with a musky smell to them. Stayed at a farmhouse B&B at the north end, watched deer from the bedroom window coming down from the fells at dusk.. Went boozing in the "Drovers" Pub in the evening, that was an experience! Like a step back in time to Scotland of old & Rob Roy!
Loch Lomond must be getting on for 20mls long?
Don't know loch Awe. Know Linhe, Laggan, Lochy etc.. near Ft.William a little....

23 miles long and the largest inland waterway in the British Isles.
Also MAHOOSIVE!!...lol
...and yea, you were on the River Kelvin, which funnily enough, I was inspecting (where it enters the Clyde) for Mullet yesterday. Didn't see any though. Might still be a wee bit cold yet.

Re: fishing loch awe
Deer Ticks can transmit a bacterial infection called "Lymes Disease".
Not all deer ticks in all area's, just some in some area's.. I think the New Forest in Hampshire might be a British area to beware of, not sure about Scotland.
In the 1990's, a world class mountainbiker called Juliana Furtado of Colorado USA was infected... the disease is difficult if not impossible to cure. At first they suspected Lupus but it was eventually confirmed as Lymes disease.
This thread is going everywhere BUT about Loch Awe
