Take a look at the Fox Warrior Z as well. A little more expensive than the excellent Wychwood rods that MrMakk has mentioned but they always seem to get 10/10 in the reviews. I bought one because of this and am well pleased with it. Just need to catch a fish on it now Embarassed

There are earlier models of the Warrior Z, I think they were called the Warrior ES or something. Those are by all accounts a good rod that had a cult following. The Warrior Z are the 2010 range and retail around £60. I picked mine up from Ebay for just shy of £50 with p+p so it pays to shop around.

Like MrMakk says, try and provide a link so others can investigate and maybe shed some light on it for you or use Ebay's own "Ask seller a question" to see if the seller can let you know more details.

Good luck!

Dont forget if you can push that little further you could have both a rod and reel

here is a list of combos which i find quiet good for under £100

http://www.anglingdirect.co.uk/store/predator/bundles-kits/wychwood-signature-combo
looks good but i haven't heard/read any reviews

http://www.gerrysfishing.com/shop_details.asp?productID=9765&tabID=5
Two decent makes but a bit of a bite to pay

I cannot find the Fox Z combo on the anglers direct.........

Hi MrMakk

The Warrior Z combo is now discontinued. Only know because my mate ordered one and was left 4 weeks waiting only to be told whn he phoned that it was no longer available.

Not that happy with mine now my Stratos reel broke after the 3rd time in use!

Hi Dan, I can 99% say that it is NOT the Z model as I think it actually says "Warrior Z" where that one only says "Warrior".

I'll compare it to my own Z model tomorrow for you.

I was interested in getting the Stratos reel to go with the rod (who said tackle tart? Suspect ) until I started hearing and reading about them. Although Fox make good rods, they apparently are not very good at making reels.
I'm now sticking to the Wychwood reel I've got.

thats because its the original warrior (its 1st outing as a blank was the rangemaster, or if not then the two were impossible to tell apart bar the aesthetic stuff)
fox then relesed the rangemaster 2 which as brown and had a wrap, the warrior came out within weeks of that in the early part of the 2000's.
and its a fantastic rod too boot, okay 2.5 may be light but if your only on smaller waters where throwing big baits big distances is not needed then it will be fine it will lob a ten inch mack and few ounces of lead 30 yards or so and smaller joeys with a chunk of lead further

oh it also handles better with braid than mono as its quite a soft through actioned blank
one lad who used to come piking with us got three of these in 2.75 and 3lb and my god could he launch baits wth them

sometimes being around for a while has its advantages

oh should have mentioned i reckon its better than the replacement (warrior es) for pike fishing
and on that reasoning when the pikers came out same blank allegedly just diff cosmetics again i bought some due to that fact in 3.25 and they are top rods more suited to piking than the mick brown stuff form fox that was out at the same time (to tippy and a bit too fragile)
