Pike Drop backs
I have been using fox ones for a while,
But found them too heavy when fishing light, ie 3 or 4 swan shot on the trace with a sprat on.
Decided to make some that are lighter to suit the way i fish.
Started with these componants,
The end result, Mine is the bottom one
I can always add a small sliding weight,
Its about 2 thirds the weight of the fox one, so should work, Not tryed them yet.

Re: Pike Drop backs
When i bought tackle on Saturday last, i bought 2 x Fox Drop Back indicators. I was influenced by the shop staff to buy 2 x Fox Micron MX electronic front detectors also? Was i wise to buy these?, he reckoned that with both i was fully covered..
I never used to use electronic detectors years ago, just the drop backs.

Ideal setup mate. That's the job. You could rely on the drop-back indicators alone but then you'd have to watch them. With the alarms, nothing has changed in any way but now you can lie down, do a wee bit of lure fishing, read a book, eat your lunch, make the tea, fiddle with your tackle....lol....or pick your nose. It just means you now have an audible warning.

drop back indicators
for the rod part, try using a spoke from an umbrella. I am a golfer and after a wind there are allways broken brolleys knocking about. As a bonus, many of these are graphite type material so they are very strong and light as well.

for the safety of the fish i would use the alarms mate..... all it takes is for you to go for a pee and/or turn your back to your rods for a minute and you could have a deep hooked fish on your hands without an audible indicator

Re: Pike Drop backs
I have soon got used to using them & use one even with a float set-up. Gives us a reassuring cover from any distractions etc.....
