Don't worry about the poly balls i've never heard of any pike coming to any harm with them mate Wink

One other way is to inject air into the deadbait

Welcome to the site Boltonpred

I tend to inject air into the bait when I am looking for a bit of buoyancy. It doesn't always pop it up as well as a popper but I like the thought of having a bait thats sits up just a bit. Saying that, I rarely bother as I a usually happy with the bait on the bottom. I will go to a suspended or paternosterned bait instead.
