Single hook hair rigs

Post  CRIB on Thu Oct 14, 2010 9:38 am

Wondered if it is possible to use Catfish single hook hair rigs made from 65lb kevlar braid for pike, I was thinking of using them to present "fish stacks" on running rigs Question

NO Evil or Very Mad Evil or Very Mad Evil or Very Mad pike will cut through it like butter Shocked
You must use trace wire at all times when piking Wink

what is the braid??

some kevlar ones have a braided steel outer with the kevlar being inside, and one has a seven strand interior with kevlar on the outside

if its supple wire you want get hold of steve moore and get some calibre wonder wire off him

The braid I made my Cat rigs from is Catlink Kevlar, it is pure kevlar but has no wire incorporated in it as far as I know. I have had Cats on them but don't think I will risk a pike bite off. Any experience using Fox Soft Steel Trace Wire on pike rigs Question

Many thanks for the information & link to wire supplier.
Thanks to everyone for their help, also placed an order from Onlinebaits.co.uk for some deadbaits after reading a post on bait supply.
Just need to get some runs on sunday when I have my first trip piking for 8 years!!!, leaving winter carping alone this year. Very Happy
