Social Experiment - Sunday 21st November
Hi
Just reading up on the impact of the moon on feeding habits of fish.
With this in mind I wish to conduct a social experiment on Sunday 21st of November.
According to the research, and with reference to the Moon, is concentrate your fishing efforts at two specific times of the month.
That time is the three to four day period that coincides with either the Full or New Moon.
On Sunday 21st the moon moves into its Full Moon Phase.
Further to this, another factor which influences such feeding habits is the rising and setting of the moon.
The important thing to remember with regards to the moon rising and setting is that fish are more active during a 90 minute window surrounding this event.
On Sunday the Moon rises at 15:24 and sets at 08:04, so 45 minutes either side of this should in theory provide to be the most fruitful period of the day.
Therefore, the experiment is simple.
If you have blanked in the last few weeks - and I include myself here - then head out to the riverbank on Sunday and see whether this lack of success has a turn around.
Also jot down the times of your catches to see if this coincides with the rise and the set of the moon.
Then report back on Monday with your results

Re: Social Experiment - Sunday 21st November
Hmmm, interesting, very interesting.....
I used to do alot of carp fishing and I certainly can agree that this is the case with carp. The fish used to feed more readily, or at least it seemed this way. I was also a water bailiff and used to hold regular invite only carp matches and on the weekends where this coincided with a new or full moon the matches always produced more catches.

Re: Social Experiment - Sunday 21st November
Hoping to get out on Sunday, not sure where yet! so if I haven't frozen to death by 15:24 ill report back.
Be interesting, although now its been talked up I will probably blank as my theory goes the more I prepare for a session, the less chance I have of catching!

Moon Phase Calendar
If your wishing to give the experiment a go out of curiousity and want to find out when the moon rises and sets for your area of fishing click on the link below.
Moon Phase
Fingers crossed it makes a difference.
Did I mention the effect of barometric pressure...lol

Re: Social Experiment - Sunday 21st November
I blanked today. Again.
Only saw 3 fish caught all day on the 2 ponds - small roach on the other pond to me and 1 pike at 'tother end of pond I was on. It was at most 8lb by the looks of it from where I was.
The other fish was (I think) a small roach caught by a Mr. S.Eagull.
