BTW....over 20 means 20 Kilos....just in case you thought he was a dwarf.

just checked ,it was 52lb and was full of spawn

Aw well then. I'm not interested if they're 52lbs and full of spawn. I'll stick to skinny dubs in June then.

Who knows? It just amazes me that pike that size exist in any kind of numbers.

yes stubbo is right he is from italy and assome cracking fish,there is also some big ones from germany to.have you seen the rubber ring he sits in?bet he got drag all over

I trying to work out if these are lure caught or bait caught pike. I'm thinking bait caught as he seems to have a little livebait well attached to the front of his rubber ring but i could be wrong.
I honeymooned in northern Italy around some of the great lakes and 'chatted' to a few local anglers in pigeon italian and they were aware of many large pike but hated fishing for them as they could make money selling perch to the local restaurants. They would jig for them off boats with rigs that we would use for mackeral over here.
The perch were very nice by the way.

Hit the nail on the head there. Lack of pressure and plenty of nutritious food available.
