FOX CARBO FLEX 20LB

Post  MAD BAD ANGLER on Thu Jan 13, 2011 9:11 pm

anyone on here used this trace wire? i got some just after the freeze, and today was the first time i have used it and not impressed at all Evil or Very Mad Evil or Very Mad Evil or Very Mad Evil or Very Mad
first got stuck in some reeds and had to pull for a break. i use 15lb big game main line (remember 20lb trace) so line should have gone first NO trace snapped Sad and well before it should have and it was a new trace...
then the 9.2 pike i had when i got it in only the top treble left on trace no sign of the bottom one Mad Mad Mad Mad . i have made my own traces now for over 20 years so i know what im doing and i twist not crimp. its now going in the bin and the 7 strand is coming back out. Very Happy Very Happy

warm the end that you are going to twist with a cigerette lighter and it burns the coating off as it heats the wire up and its easy to twist then and its stainless so wont rust and still retains its strength

why 20lb????????????
that will always break well below what it takes for something like a well knotted mono like big game
i use the stuff and love it never had a problem with it failing even fishing the glacials through rocks and making mini jerk traces and up traces for rotory livebait rigs

oh and it twists fine
