happened up here last year on a small farm pond killed all the big carp biggest 28lb it was about 2 ft deep one of my carp was 20 years old took food out of my hand ......gutted mate

A Place w++++ R+++++ carp fisheries, No longer in use, WHY i hear you ask, Well in the summer last year the carp were gulping for air and there was dozens of them, So they put a big industrial pump on the site to pump the water out and into the air, Then when it splashed down the oxigen levels would rise, But they had the return pipe on an embankment, and everything was ok'ish So they just left it to do its stuff, At the end of the day the farmer heard the pump still running decided to go out and turn it of for the night, But the pipe that was on the embankment had moved and the water had gone into the ditch behind it, The lake was just a few pools of water with all the fish slapping about in the mud, But the majority were dead or dying, So you will never guese what the farmers did next,

Ok Ill tell you,

They filled it in without taking any of the surviving fish out,

Lakes up here in yorkshire have suffered too. Lindholme lake being one of them. Lots of dead floating carp some in the 20's. My lake only lost one pike of around 7lb so I'm licks really. The first day the lake was fishable though both pike and carp came out 

yes but not all lakes are deep the one i fish is only 18 inch deep and its lost some good carp the ice was 6inch thick it has only just thawed out mate just worried not lost to many pike

Stubbo, my little lake is inly 2 meters deep, its about half an acre and was iced up to about 12 inches, I havent lost any fish, and yet a lake just up the road, deeper and longer lost a load of Carp and some decent Pike, I guess it is the vegatation in the bottom that does the damage, some lakes and ponds are untouched whilst others lose some fish, so I guess whatever happens Pike will survive, but there will be some casualities.
