Rods/reels etc
Hi all.
Extremely new to pike fishing and hoping to get more experienced and start accumulating my own stuff (always use the father in laws stuff at the mo). Just wondering if anyone can give me any specific recommendations for rods/reels etc. Really not wanting to break the bank but don't want poor quality stuff. I know there is loads of advice out there but was hoping some of you guys could give me some specific recommendations because you were all really helpful when I wanted some advice about loch ken!!
Cheers

Re: Rods/reels etc
the best advise i can offer you is rods and reels are personal preference ,
you really should look at size waters you will be fishing this will give you some idea whether you want a standard reels or big pits and the same with rods do you need a rod which will punch a bait out at distance or under your rod tips
but i would recommend you buy the best you can afford

Daiwa rods and shimano reels for me. Daiwa have great after sales service. Go for a baitrunner style reel. Free spool is very handy. A reel capacity of 200 yards of .35mm line is about right. Rod of 2.5 to 3lb test curve 12 foot long.

Thanks a lot for all of the help. My father in law has a shimano reel which I quite like using so may well go with that. Really appreciate it guys!

Although marketed as a carp rod, the Daiwa Black widows are just brilliant IMO.
