Hello and advice needed
Hi Folks really good to join your site! I have decided to start fishing for pike again after a 20 years gap, having decided this I am heading upto St Mary's Loch in Scotland next weekend, a bit of camping and some pike fishing.
Does anyone have any advice as i have never fished as big a water as this should I be using dead baits or lures? Think I would prefer the lure approach as I would like to keep things as equipment free as possible. (ie my rod landing net and a few bits of tackle.)
I'll probably get slaughtered for the approach but lugging loads of kit to somewhere so remote seems a bit over the top.
Anyway hello again
Jeff

Hi Jeff and a very big welcome to the forum,
The guy who you should be asking, Who is a hive of knowlede for those parts of the country is Andy Macfarlane, I would think he will be the best qualified Piker and if he doesn't know he may well find out for you,
Good luck and enjoy the forum,
,,,Paddy,,,

Thanks for the welcome Paddy.
I am stupidly excited about fishing for the first time since I was a kid.

Excited is not doing it justice
Hi Steve
I don't think I have been this excited about a fishing trip ever. 3 kids a stressful job, moving house 3 times in a year I need a b reak and some serious relaxation. A trip to Scotland and (Hopefully) some big pike and Trout. Apparently the average size fish caught on St Mary's Loch is 11.1/2 pounds.
