Hornsea Mere
Anyone fancy joining me in a boat out on the mere one weekend? Been a while since i've fished it but wouldn't go out on my own there in a boat...it's a bloody hard row if that wind gets up lol.

Re: Hornsea Mere
Hi tootall, i was thinking of going on Friday as it looks like next to no wind if your up for it got to be @ Manchester airport 16;30 on Saturday.I fished it late March very windy out of the shelter of island only jacks & returned one month later to find the water had dropped 2ft, had a look last month September it looked about 16-18" low looking at the line on the reeds. So don't know what to expect, as you will know its not deep to start with.I will let you know how I get on
Cheers, Martin

I have witnessed fish to 22lb being caught tho and there's the usual rumour of a lake monster pushing 40.

Re: Hornsea Mere
I think its rowing only mate as its also a water used for beginner sailors etc
I'd be happy to try organise something Adie.
I will look in the diary and propose a few dates in the next few days

Re: Hornsea Mere
Hi lads,
Forum member winnsnapper has been very helpful. He went down a few days ago and found out a bit more info.
The boat hire place have 5 boats for piking hire (max 3 people per boat) we obviously have the potential for 15 people, however having been in one of these boats myself I would suggest that perhaps 2 per boat is more realistic, meaning 10 people.
Winnsnapper was saying that there wasn't much sign of life, but tbh i think this is probably down to the fact that the temps still aren't really conducive to good piking.
My suggestion would be to leave it until 'proper' winter kicks in - maybe a Saturday or Sunday late November/Early December.
In terms of bookings, the boat hire place have been messed about in the past with people not turning up etc so we may have to leave a deposit etc if we book in advance.
