In the past I've had a few encounters with various birds, and have landed a great crested grebe, seagulls, a cormorant, two mute swans and several assorted ducks. all fought very well and were returned to the water unharmed. The swans were a real handful affraid The grebe put a hole in my wader, and the cormorant took a chunk out of my finger affraid Has anyone else had similar experiences?? Very Happy

I have caught three cormorants. They will not be eating anymore fish.

While fishing at a undisclosed lake, set-up for the night with bivvie, then woke to the sound of wild boar around the bivve. Not a pleasant sight, or sound at around 3.00 am Surprised . But im glad to say, me nor the boar were harmed.. Smile .

i once sat up all night after hearing lions/tigers/big cats nearby

this is in st helens (stuck between liverpool manchester and wigan)

i was truly terrified (1st night on the water at 15) to the point of sitting up all night with my cheapo swiss army knife.

when i got home i told my dad how scared i was and all he did was spray his tea over the parlour wall and almost choked with laughter.

the lake is only a stones throw from knowsley safari park which he knew but failed to tell me before i went and found it so funny that i was so terrified Embarassed

whilst fishing with some friends I returned (from showering) to my bivvy to find it all zipped up, strange I thought until I unzipped it and a very angry swan flew out at me. My darling friends had encouraged it into the bivvy with bread and zipped it in. My stuff was trashed and covered in feathers and bird poo. I also spent a night watching a family of wild boar drinking from the lake fortunately they were on the opposite side to me.

Have tangled with most of the water birds,3 cormies(all to deadbaits)gulls terns coots moorhens and most recently a young heron that spooked and flew into one of my lines(that was fun and games).
This one was diving for fry and again got wrapped in my line.
