Have you got a fish market near you?? am lucky i can go on grimsby docks and get a bag of about 15 sardines for £2. I go out on a cod boat in the summer and get 60 or 70 mackrel. Ive got a vac pak machine aswell plus all the freshwater deads i fill my freezer up with in the summer when im carping...

Mackrel have all gone but wouldnt mind some of the big cod they are catching. Some big doubles coming off the humber bank at the minute. You can catch whiteing all year round they not bad pike bait. Just getting my yearly trip to oban organised for next June for the big skate. Nothing like the sight of a 200 punner coming up from the depths after an hour and a halfs scrap.

PikeSlag- I wouldn't mind a few of the cod thats been coming out either mate caught 2 the other week. Needless to say had a lovely big fish supper lol.

not wishing to hi jack this thread in any way but seeing as my question is related here goes. How many single baits do you take on each session? I know im going to get some funny answers such as " none of my baits are single, there all married" etc. I dont have lots of freezer space and yet I still have at least a dozen baits available to take and would only take half of them for a day session.

what i do Matt is i take out 3 deads and put in the fridge the eve before. then on the day i take out loads of frozen baits and keep them in my cool bag. they stay frozen all day no probs, but thaw quickly once in the water. no wastage then m8. Very Happy Very Happy

Get yourself some 'Techni-Ice' or 'Chillerz'

Same product, just different names. Absolutely brilliant things for keeping cool-bags-boxes and baits in good order.

Only a tenner for 3 sheets and you can chop them up to fit your bag or box.

Most camping shops do it. Blacks, Millets and Eurohike have gone into receivership today I heard on Radio BBC4. I imagine there should be a sale.

You can order online from a number of places though. Put 'Chillerz' into Google.
