Cheap lures
Theres a shop near me called Boyes there's a few dotted around the country, they sell allsorts of stuff including fishing gear, I got some 13cm lures they are £1.50 each I dont know how strong the hooks are but they are sharp, even if you changed the hooks there still very cheap lures, got to be worth a go, there the same make as the ones on front cover of angling times

Re: Cheap lures
hah they are undoubtedly fladen minnows
the bigger 17cm ones at least arebuilt using the old ryobi tooling for the dixie minnow i believe
ive a good few and they are fantastic lures well worth having in conjunction with the magnum long a's from bomber which although looking similar offer two different options.
oh they are also almost the same as a windels muskie snack, i ve been lead to believe they only real difference is the plastic's relative density to water
ive a few other fladen lures as well and they are fine the split rings while not the best are certainly durable enough for pike
all ill say is in the sub 5 inch category for jerk baits only two i really use are smuttly db4's and the melvins. two lures at the opposite end of the spectrum i suppose but both great.
oh and if you troll or like bigger cranks or want to try big cranks then pike beasts are a good lure
