Fish Finders

Post  silvers on Mon Jan 16, 2012 9:57 pm

Thinking of getting one for use on a reservoir I will be fishing in the near future. Anyone owned or used one at all, some advice would be much appreciated. Very Happy

I have had a selection of 7 fish finders in the last 13 years so have a fairly good idea of what makes a good one. I have had ones with No GPS, External GPS, colour and black and white.
The main difference in them all is you need the GPS if you are doing a lot of trolling, otherwise its not really neccesary. Colour just looks prettier but thats the only advantage I could find. The real important part of a finder in my view is the Degree of angle for the transducer (wider for shallow lakes and narrow for deep deep water) and the resolution of the pixels (Dots on the screen) the more dots the better the picture shown and the greater the degree of seperation between objects.

So I would sugest the one with the biggest viewable screen, 5" or more, black and white, wide angled transducer and at least 480X480 Pixels. Its a hard choice as theres so many. Very Happy
