best dead bait

What is your favorite or best dead baits if you could only use 2 in a session which 2 would you choose?

It seems that every water has its own preferences regarding bait. Over here in Ireland I would have to say on the loughs it would be trout and Roach, and in the rivers trout and lamprey, well for me anyway. Very Happy Pollan would be a very close 3rd.

Sardines and Roach.
Sardines because I find them to be the ideal size and having caught so many fish from a wide variety of waters they give me total confidence.
Roach for its versatility drift it,ledger it.suspend it or sink and draw.its present in most waters and fairly easy to obtain.

herring,herring,and herring.. and a close 2nd would be sardine's..both very oil'y bait's. Smile

And is that on every water Question I find a difference from venue to venue, especially because of the species in it naturally.

i just use whatever ive got in my freezer. At the moment I have quite a few roach and some gurnard, sardine,herrings and some lovely little joey mackrel that are no bigger than 6" which I use for sink and draw.
