Showing Catfish results in a pike!

Went down a local river the other day... well more a man made relief channel, while there me and me mate kept hearing this noise as if something was slapping on the water over by some thick overhangs. As we're peered through the trees we could clearly see the tail of a catfish swirling around under them!! having heard that one or two over the years have been pulled out of a lower stretch we were shocked that we had actually found one!! Quickly I shot home while me mate held the swim and picked up my pike gear and some leftover deadbaits from winter gone. When I got back the fish was still sitting there, but we could see much more of it, I dropped a roach dead bait gently about 6ft from it and sat back, after 10 min the alarm went and I was in! I Played this fish for a few minutes when it suddenly decided to tail walk, yep that's right I hadn't hooked the cat we'd been watching, it was a pike! We took a quick picture and slipped it back as quick as possible before going back to look under the tree... It was gone

What I found crazy was the fact that I managed to get a take from a pike so close to a big old catfish, the pike was roughly 7lb id guess and the cat was prob upper doubles!

Thats a great story Pilley. Well done on getting a bait out there and catching something, even if it wasn't the fish you expected.
