Abu HI LO lures Empty Abu HI LO lures

Any thoughts or user reviews on the range of Abu HI LO one piece and two piece jointed lures. Depth use and patterns etc...? I have eight or nine of them (in pretty good nick) in the bottom of my tackle box but never really use them as I feel their rather outdated looking compared to the rest of my gear.
Anyone working these lures - if so, with what kind of success rate.

I've got a few, had them for donkey's years and never use them. They're well made and reasonably versatile, having an adjustable lip but apart from that they're just a standard small crankbait. I always found that on a big cast, the lip position would change as the lure hit the water.
On the whole I use larger lures nowadays.

Must admit I never even knew that the adjustable lip movement was an issue on big casts. I was using them almost exclusively for trolling so they were only been popped in the water and the line let out to the required length so no stress or impact on the lip. We did catch good fish on them but that was well over twenty years ago.

They just look very out dated now, like some sort of fake "art deco" fish when compared with some of todays high end lures, which I suppose is the reason that I've not been happy to commit to them - until now. I've busied myself and started cleaning them up and giving them a good once over, checking hooks, mounts etc... as an experiment over the the next couple of months will make an effort to see if they can work their old Abu magic once more.

I wonder if the ye olde Esox has evolved as much the lure industry has in the last twenty or thirty years - will its predatory instincts still be sparked by a vintage HI LO wiggling its way past its nose or have they become more decerning now and will only pounce on one of todays high tech swim baits.

Still wondering if anyone is working them with success these days or have any memories (good or bad) of them

I have three in my lure bag, I dont use them all the time but once in a blue moon I will put one on and give it a wiggle. Cant remember when I last caught on one though as I tend to want to use my newer lures more.
