Hi I'm returning to pike fishing after a long gap and have been looking at rods and reels. I have about £150 to spend. I am aiming to mostly deadbait on local gravel pits but be able to do some spinning as well occasionally. Was looking for a rod with a 3lb test curve any advice on good all round rods and reels to match would be much appreciated.

Hiya mate welcome to the forum.

On that budget I would be looking at the "Chub Outkast" rods in the 3lb or 3.5lb test curves and the "Okuma" reels which are decent for the money. If you shop around you can find the "Outkast's" for about £68.
But as Nick says don't forget all the bits and pieces as these add up to a few quid.

Hope that helps

most lower end carp rods will do, avoid anything labelled long cast or fast actioned.
i have dedicated pike rods that cost around 50 quid from fox called pikers

reels okuma all the way the bigger the better is my advice if you can stretch to it get big pits second hand

daiwa sensor mono in 15lb or more, or braid in 50lb or so

wire a min of 30lb (28lb drennan etc is fine Laughing )

as for indication get or make some drop offs, and add cheap alarms if you can, and a few floats dont buy pike floats whatever you do the sea floats work fine at a fraction of the price. get some long ones and glue a swivel in the base it will cost 1.50 instead of 3-4 quid a float
