Hi guys my name is sandy i have been fly fishing for trout for over 40 years, ive always fancied giving pike fishing a try so ive invested in some pike tackle ie rods reels lures and dead bait tackle,im going on holiday on saturday to the west coast of scotland,im going to be fishing a small loch called ederline.
I was thinking about trying dead bait but not sure which is best frozen or fresh any advice would be great

fresh are good but you can get a better cast with a frozen bait. I would advise that if the venue is quite windy and you get the right conditions then drifting a fresh bait out will cover more area.

Early in the season I prefer coarse baits then slowly switch to sea deads

are there trout in the venue ? how big are your baits? If they are small enough you might also try sink and draw as trout are quite tough and withstand the constant casting.
