Anyone got any recommendations?
Ideally want to spend about 60-70 quid at most. I've seen the Abu Ambassadeur S 6501 for 60 notes on EBay. Anything better for the cash?
Cheers.

What multi did you have? Are you sure you can't fix it up?

Keep your eyes peeled for a second hand 5501/6501 Swedish made C3 on eBay or the LAS forum

There was a shop/stall at lurefair with a few c3's if I can get contact details you want em shooting your way via PM?

I had an old 'toothy critter' which I bought about 10 years ago with the matching rod from Harris. There wasn't as much about jerkbait ing on the web back then, and everyone I knew thought a Shakespeare big s was a big lure. I was kinda buying blind and the rod has turned out all right but the reel has been pretty poor. I've been looking for an excuse to change it since getting back into fishing, so I'm not looking to fix it. In fact I put it in the bin before. Yeah Alex, a few enquirers would be most welcome. I'm a bit skint until payday, it seems most of my family have a birthday/anniversary this month, and Mother's Day too. All adds up. I'm watching a couple of reels on eBay now. Any idea the going rate for a c3? If the right reel comes at the right price, I could maybe swing it before the 27th, but I'd rather not if you know what I mean.

Any idea on what lures youve been lobbing? And roughly what style of waters, what cast ratings has the rod got?

The Swedish made Abu multipliers are renowned for being workhorses, both the C3 & C4 models in particular. I managed my minter of a 5501 C3 for £35 posted after winning it in a eBay auction, £50-£70 is around the asking price for a sturdy secondhand C3 depending on conditions and usage. I'll shoot you the details on the chap with second hand Abu's in a mo

Lures are between about an ounce and to about 5 oz. I think the rods rated to 125g, but I rarely throw lures that size, usually between an oz and say 3oz. I have a couple of big rubber lures that only come out on certain waters. Usually it's the likes of bulldawgs, sliders and fatso's, herring shads, real and alien eels, pigs etc. The waters vary from little ponds to huge rivers, canals, everything in between.
