I am going to a Scottish loch next weekend, I would like advice on drifter float fishing.affraid I have never done this, so dont know rigs or how to fish it? How far or safe can you let the bait drift?pig But also, is this advisable or would it be better if I went for a roving approach and just kept myself moving around the loch to find the fish? confused What a Face Shocked cheers cheers

it depends on the water ie shallow , deep , has it got islands , snaggy bottom , certain things need to come into play when drifter fishing ,like wind direction obviously you need the wind on your back , some decent braid on your spools.

as regards to distance you have got to think about the pikes welfare as dragging a big pike back 300yard back through snags and shallow bars wont do the pike any favours

I say 300yards I would not go that far myself but have seen other guys fishing that far out even further.

I like to go a max of 150 yards, would not like to snap of at range with a pike towing miles of braid about , like I said it depends on the water
