Re: water wolf christmas prezzy
Nice vids Stubbo :-) it just show how many near misses we have
It might also be worth trying hooking the bait in different positions

I might be wrong but it looked like the bigger pike had some kind of a problem with its mouth , it is hard to spot with the camera bobbing about , you need a flat calm day to get good footage or leger on the bottom..... is which I normally domwillis551 wrote:So what do you think the reason is that the big pike didnt take the bait??

These videos are brilliant Stubbo, certainly giving us a lot to think about.
Keep them coming.
I'm really enjoying watching them, seeing as I haven't managed to get out myself for a while

Re: water wolf christmas prezzy
The "fussy" pike might have had a growth on its lip / mouth
I've seen a few like that over the years.
Stubbo's video's certainly gives us an insight to how cautious Pike can be.

Yes, it looks like the bigger fish has a tumour in its mouth, possibly preventing it from feeding. Tumours are very common in pike and in some cases they are seasonl, growing at one time of the year and then receding at another. Really enjoying this footage, there's a huge amount to learn from it, thanks for sharing it with us.

enjoying the filming bit of the fishing eric there is so many possibilities in using this camera going to be doing some trickery in the future on this . been doing some prebaiting so it will be good to see how much prebait has been taken and how long it takes them to clear it ... and does it hold them there for longerEric Edwards wrote:Yes, it looks like the bigger fish has a tumour in its mouth, possibly preventing it from feeding. Re: water wolf christmas prezzy
Just a quick post to say that I took my Water Wolf out for a trial on Monday, and the results really impressed me.
As soon as I get some time, I will get an edited clip together and post it.
I didn't until recently realise how fussy and cautious pike could be
My video follows what Stubbo experienced and shows a very cautious fish (possibly two) before a take.
Fascinating stuff.

its an eye opener..... you can sit there all day long thinking there nothing in the swim these cameras tells you a different story maybe you can tweek your rigs and methods in the future to get these fish to take or even use a lure in that spot and see how they respond to moving baitsJonahJones wrote:Just a quick post to say that I took my Water Wolf out for a trial on Monday, and the results really impressed me.

Have any of you lads used lives yet on camera. It would be interesting to see if the Pike took as long inspecting their lunch
Re: water wolf christmas prezzy
first chance I get will try it , the problem is catching a live fish tried last week drip feeding maggots and a bit of ground bait could not buy a bite not even a perch........lowdouble wrote:Have any of you lads used lives yet on camera. There is one clip of a live baited rig on the internet and it (the Pike) did have a look first before striking.
Re: water wolf christmas prezzy

Re: water wolf christmas prezzy
I've just looked at my footage again and it's definitely one fish and it took over seven minutes from appearing on screen to finally taking the bait
What editing software is recommended ? What are people using? I have "Movie Maker" on my Windows 8 lap top.
I will have a play with that and see what I can come up with.
