very, very last knockings paid off
went out today to a large still water , got there about 10 am , set up 2 rods very close in to the margins , absolutely not a sniff till darkness .
I would not normally fish into the dark , but this time I just had that feeling something was going to happen .
Had 2 small jacks then this very fit pike...

Yes Temps are rising don't know for how long but I'm hoping to get out a couple of times next week not sure where yet just need to find a pike or two of any size
Re: very, very last knockings paid off
try fishing very small baits and down size on the trebles say down to size ten , but fish a heavy trace 30lb , not saying that's the answer , but I have fished this method lately and its getting me bites and fish .....but its probably down to the temps the fishing is improving slightly........adie1200 wrote:Yes Temps are rising don't know for how long but I'm hoping to get out a couple of times next week not sure where yet just need to find a pike or two of any size

Going to give singles a go Well saying that i have used them a few times before with good results rig set up same as a double treble hook snap tackle only it has 2 single hooks and you just nip the hook point through the baits skin so the hook point is showing or tie the hooks to the bait with rig elastic
It can work well when they have had a lot of attention Just don't bury the hooks too far in or you might not get a hook-up

Re: very, very last knockings paid off
worth trying pal , just strike very early on singles hooks as they can swallow them faster in my book , I think trebles get caught in the mouth quicker and actually prevent deep hooking ...that if you strike straight away.....still see anglers leaving the runs far too long.... but I don't need to tell you that adieadie1200 wrote:Going to give singles a go Well saying that i have used them a few times before with good results rig set up same as a double treble hook snap tackle only it has 2 single hooks and you just nip the hook point through the baits skin so the hook point is showing or tie the hooks to the bait with rig elastic

You would think they would swallow it right down Steve but up to now I've never had one that's deep it always seems to be close to the front of their mouths or in the scissors and I don't miss any more takes than I would do with trebles
