Re: best knot for braid
i use a palomar knot as illustrated in this video.... i've always found it to be very reliable with braids
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=qiDDdW22X9k
the first thing after the swivel with me is always a 30lb wire trace when lure fishing

Re: best knot for braid
Gotta agree there, palomar everytime for me too, even when using mono.
I use it for everything: hooks, swivels, trace, etc....
Interestingly, I've seen another way of tying this knot:
Dunno about you lot, but I think this way may strangle the knot and actually weaken it.
What do you think?
Have you tried it this way?
I don't want to try it in case it fails and end up with a fish swimming around with a trace in it's mouth. Or worse.

Why, thank you sir.
Can't remember where I found the small diagram but the larger one (with three turns) is from Abu Garcia website (http://www.abugarcia-fishing.co.uk/) in the 'Tips' section.

Re: best knot for braid
PALOMAR for braid is the strongest, without constricting the braid itself.
i tested 400 various knots at work about 10 years ago under near laboratory conditions at ICI/DuPont.
the palomar knot was the only one that snapped the mainline before the knot at98% compared to other popular knots.
