Re: chew tickets
One call, four dates, that's the way it goes sometimes.
I all honesty I wouldn't have cared much if I hadn't got through, the price is very high now and the fishing is definitely getting slower and slower. I have high quality fishing on several waters so time spent at Chew is really just time I could spend elsewhere.
I invest in the stock market to supplement my pension, quite successfully too, and I know what a bubble looks like. This is a bubble in the making in my view and three years down the line you'll have no trouble at all in getting tickets (if you want them).

Re: chew tickets
this sounds a bit drastic, but in my view they want to give the pike fishing a good rest on there for a few years and maybe that bubble will keep going a few years longerEric Edwards wrote:One call, four dates, that's the way it goes sometimes.

Re: chew tickets
i cant understand why you even phoned for chew tickets then eric, if thats how you feel about the place. i have read your comments before about how you feel about chew pike, you almost seem to have utter contempt for them. maybe you should have left it to the people that really want to fish there instead of taking tickets just for the sake of it. sorry, but it ticks me of when people scoff at chew and then go fish it. stick to your guns slag it off and DONT fish it.

Re: chew tickets
Now don't let's fall out because you didn't get tickets while I did, that's daft. It's true, I don't really care much about Chew and I just threw my hat in the ring as they say but it's a water with big fish in, I can't deny that, and most of us can't really ignore it. I've got a long history with the place and I've been very disappointed with the way things have been run and it's that that colours my view more than anything. In all honesty I'm more pleased for my best friends than I am for myself. Neither of them got through and so I will be sharing my four days with them, as I always do, and it will give them their best chance of catching a thirty, which they are both desperate to do. If I was a total mercenary like many of the regulars, I would abandon my friends and share my days with someone who also has four days. That would give me eight days on Chew but it would leave my friends with nothing and that's not an option for me.
If you don't get to fish at Chew then it really isn't a big deal, sure the fish are huge, but catching a huge pike from Chew is never going to make you a better angler. It might make you a celebrity for a brief time but stuff like that is very quickly forgotten and all you're left with is a set of facts and figures and a hole in your pocket. That big fish you caught just recently must have given you great satisfaction, and rightly so. We don't fish for facts and figures, we fish for fun and once in a while we get a rare experience with a creature that takes our breath away by its magnificence. That creature might be a twenty seven pounder from a lake we know well or a thirty seven pounder from a place like Chew. Neither is actually of any greater significance than the other - unless you let it be!

Re: chew tickets
nothing to do with me not getting tickets today at all, still got time to get some. even if i dont i will not cry over it not the end of the world. i have fished chew since 2009, (apart from last year when didn't apply) not had many fish, but love to go there because you just never know. i just hate it when people say one thing then do the other, just as you are doing im afraid to say. i doubt that me and you will ever see eye to eye on this, so will say no more on the matter unless provoked.

i have never got through before day 3 so still time plenty dates left in nov, just hope a few more give up ringing as it increases my chances if i dont get tickets so be it, not the end of the world. i have had bigger fish this season from local waters than i have ever had from chew, but the thing is with chew your next run could be a 30 or even forty i just love the not knowing whats attached to your line.

Sold out now I think lads. Good luck to the guys that got their tickets , I envy you . It makes the hairs on my neck stand up when I go there . Not to mention the sharp in take of breath you have when that alarm triggers off , the float slides away or there's a big dark shadow following the lures ... Sincere best of luck to you all ... You lucky people 😀

Re: chew tickets
Tried all day saturday, no luck on the phone but bluffed a 15:08 off you know where piketastic. RSI of the re dial finger monday, got through twice with no answer, gave up thinking it must be sold out by now. my mrs suggested i try again, bosh only run of the day one of the last boat days netted. 30 mins before it sold out.
Expectations:- make the most of the day, not to complain i didnt get 4 days and appreciate the opportunity, soak it all in.
Fishing chew means different things to different people, each to thier own, those of you who got lucky on the phone lottery may you realise your own expectations, the unlucky ones better luck next time.
Hope you scratch that itch Eric, best wishes

If you need any info he will be more than helpful pal. PM him , ps I love that place ! ! ! But before I went I hated the thought of it !
