Need help finding a rod Empty Need help finding a rod

Looking for a rod but don't really know what to get. I want try some big lures like the savage gear ones, but they range from 35-300g. Because its such a big jump in weight between the lures I was thinking of using the 35-98g lures.

Looked at some rods online but I'm a bit lost what to get, what weight rating and what type of rod would be best ??

SG MPP 6' 183cm Jerk -> 75g - 1sec
SG MPP 7' 210cm Big Lure & Jerk -> 150g Trigger - 2sec
Wychwood Agitator Lure 7ft 20-60g

Thanks Smile

I have 4 Savage gear rods - 3 at 8ft and 1 at 9ft. I use them for general deadbaiting, lure fishing and everything else. Wonderful rods. Such a progressive action and I honestly feel I could land anything on them. They've taken some abuse too, getting chucked around the boat. MPP Spin is the model I think, though two are green (and a little lighter) and two are black (with a much heavier action).

Never had a savage rod, they seem to make nice rods from what Ive seen. Thing Im worried about is the weight range, will the Savage Gear Big Lure & Jerk 7 Inch - -> 150g rod be able to work with lighter lures around 35g ??

Thanks for the help Smile

I'll check out the rod model in the morning. I'm pretty sure that they are all 50g plus, but handle even small spinners (10g or so) very well. They are a pleasure to use and if you look online you can find them for very little money.

Im looking at the MPP range now Smile They are pretty cheap as you said so think I might go with a MPP rod from savage.

I've hauled pike to 18lb 4oz out of thick weed with them. Honestly feel like you could land a whale with them. They are light enough to use all day, but the 9ft rod is markedly heavier, so I'd possibly steer clear for lure fishing.
