My goodness that's a lean pike! Well done Mrs Lowdouble!

Not pike, but had a great day on the trout today, with a PB of 12 fish. Well, really only the morning as the afternoon was slow. Had brown trout at 7lb 12oz, 7lb 8oz, 6lb 8oz, 5lb 12oz, 4lb 14oz, 3lb 14oz and 1lb 14oz, plus a further 5 2lb rainbow. All on either single maggot or sweetcorn. Hooked another 5 trout, the largest of which I played for about 10 minutes before it took all my elastic out (60ft) and snapped me off. My own fault really as I did look at the rig this morning and think that the mainline was in need of replacement, and it was the mainline that went (4lb 12oz test). I suspect it was a large rainbow, by the headshakes throughout the fight. I also had 158 roach (total 51lb 8oz bag weight).

A friend joined my late morning and had a couple of rainbows on my other pole. Beyond those 14 fish, only two other trout were caught all day by the other 6-8 fisherman! Laughing

It's got all the length of a 20lb fish. Must have just spawned.

It's kind of embarrassing when you get that many trout when you're after the roach. I genuinely don't target them (and use quick sinking rigs to avoid them nailing it on the drop) but consistently catch well above average numbers of trout. Just wish these large roach would show.

Just got back from fishing five days on Loch Awe - we only managed to catch two Pike and no sign of a Ferox Trout.
We enjoyed it and the scenery is stunning but I don't think we will go back.

That's tough going. The weather has been pretty reasonable for it too. Good effort Cool

The weather was mixed, cold and windy at times. Our cottage was four miles from both Kilchrenan and
Dalavich. We trolled up and down this area but most of the time we were up near Kilchrenan. There was
a nice bay in this area. We used Dipsy Divers in the deeper water to try and catch Ferox trout but had no
success. The quest for the elusive Ferox trout continues!!!

We spent most of the trolling for the Ferox only going after the Pike when we got bored. I am going to have a
day on Windermere Tuesday. I have not tried this new launch site on my own before may be hard work with
the water being low.
