Reckon we'll try the golf course side next visit but it does seem a very productive water.

I started the new season off with 3 jacks. It was nice to be out piking again. Whilst sat by the water, I made list of thing I need to buy - off to the tackle shop today.

I think we should be able to do something but just because you didn't catch anything does not mean you are going anything wrong

I came across this on the loch lomond site,is this correct.Smile

Pike Fishing
Loch Lomond is deemed one of the best locations for pike fishing by the Pike Anglers Club of Great Britain.

No permit required

Dead bait fishing only

Other Coarse Fishing
Other species to be found within the Loch are Perch, Roach, Ruffe. Dace and Powan. The Ruffe which is not a native species is thought to have been introduced by means of live baiting for pike they are an unwelcome visitor having a large appetite for other fishes eggs first found within the Loch in 1982 they are now the most common fish within the Loch.

Loch Lomond

Post  lorano on Sun Sep 17, 2017 7:25 pm

Just back from Loch Lomond.Managed one at 8lb on a deadbait and lost a smaller on at the boat on a lure.
This one took off like a rocket, thought it was twice the size!!They do scrap like hell in Loch Lomond.
It is permit fishing but used to be free £7 from the local shop there.Deadbait, lure or fly.

First pike of the season - a 2lb jack on a spinner on super light spinning gear.

Going to be experimenting with different rigs this winter. The commercial which I fish has pike to mid twenties but they are very wary. Going to see if hair rigged mackerel (and other fish maybe) sections with just a single size 4 hook and light float might tempt them. They seem to drop baits if they feel resistance, so has to be worth a shot.

had my first trip out at weekend, managed a jck so least it wasnt a blank had a funny encounter though  Razz  Razz  . when i packed up and walkrd back to car i passed another guy who was pike fishing, so asked if he had had any "OH yes" any size i asked  "18kg" (39lb 10oz in old money). ok i thought another dummy, so i said oh great fish well done knowing full well he hadn't anything close to that size. i was just about to walk away when matey boy says "got it on video weighing it do want to see?" ok i says in for a penny in for a pound. he then shows me the video. you dont see the fish straight away it started with him weighing it in a Nash holdall (i kid you not) on a set of travel suitcase scales?? then a voice says 20kg, 2 off for bag so 18kg. then he takes the fish out the bag and i get to see it for first time. now it was a nice fish no mistake but not nearly 40lb not by a long shot  Crying or Very sad  Crying or Very sad  in Smile my humble opinion if they had said lbs i would have no complaints as i put the fish at around 18-20lb Smile  Smile  . problem was bloke thought he was right, not lying he really thought the fish was a 40. so once again i said nice fish well done and walked away shaking my head Laughing Laughing Laughing Laughing

Ive heard a few stories like that myself. they truly believe they've had 30s but usually when they have forgotten their scales and they definitely know what a 30+ looks like lol. I take 2 sets always Wink

they cant tell the difference between kg and lbs pal I guy sat in front of me last year caught a pike about 5lb ish his mate shouted over what was the weight , he shouted back 5kg matey so infact doubling the weight 1 kg is 2.2lb I hope I got that right....doh Very Happy
