I'm overdue a blank on there and yesterday was the day, conditions were absolutely perfect with overcast skies and a light ripple which on this exposed lake is a rarity. Stuart missed a run on his first cast with his Sardine lightly marked around it's head. Then in the afternoon he had a dropped run on a big Herring, again the bait was marked, my rods remained motionless all day. There is never a bad days fishing and it was good to have a dad and lad session together Very Happy

Yes, conditions were absolutely spot on, which as you know is a rare occurrence on there. It was pleasing to see plenty of Pike striking on the surface and also a lot of silvers topping in the first few hours of daylight. Only thing was they didn't want my baits Embarassed

Stubbo

This is a 24Lbs 6oz fish my son had (still his PB) from the Welsh lake around 7 years ago. He was a bit nervous holding it hence my ugly face in the photo.

I had a short session on a club water yesterday. Too be honest it was one of those days where I fished a bit crap, I had a 5 runs in total but only landed the 1 fish, with me suffering 2 hook pulls and a couple of fresh air strikes !! I had one rod on a single hook rig using up some old frost bitten small Smelt, the other rod on the standard treble hooks, it was an even spread of missed runs and hook pulls across the 2 rigs. The fish I did manage to land looked like it might be a scraper double in the net, but on the scales it went 9Lbs 2oz. All in all an enjoyable albeit frustrating morning fishing.

Stubbo, give me a shout when you are next on the Welsh lake and if I'm off work, I'll try and get down there for a session Cool

Following a very hard frost on wed night, I decided to fish thursday and friday hoping they would be down in the deep water. wrong Embarassed Embarassed
Still catching fish in the 12ft depths but thats easier than deep water anyway.
Thursday: 2lb 2lb 13lb 8oz.
Friday: 2lb 2lb 6lb 12lb 14lb 17lb 4oz and missed 5 on the drifter. not too bad Wink

Good luck this weekend lads, tight lines☺

yes pal, not used it for a while , as you know you need the right venue , clear water with no snags and not to deep otherwise the picture clarity is not as good
it works well  in bright light  ie   sunny days are the best.....  the fish in the photo......  I caught later in the day on a float rod...  looks like I am back up and running ....famous last words...doh Very Happy
