Plenty of action though mate, well done. I am trying the first day behind the alarms tomorrow, and teaching a novice at the same time. Its not a runs water and any fish will be a good one though, fingers crossed for beginners luck Very Happy

That fish was as satisfying as any I have ever caught. Great to help somebody and share a bit of knowledge. The spirit of real pike fishing. Happy days indeed☺

Great results both, well done Cool

Separately, I've got three days at the start of January (2-4th) set aside for piking. It looks like from the forecast that my usual venue will be frozen (96 hours from the 27th onwards with sub zero temperatures and I suspect it's still carrying ice from the previous cold snap. My local commercial is still 80% frozen) so I'd be tremendously grateful if anyone was able to PM me any suggestions for venues to try within a couple of hours of Edinburgh. I'm not equipped for long range work (all 8 and 9ft rods as I've always boat fished) but I'd rather fish the bank if possible due to the very short hours of daylight.

Any help gratefully received. Very Happy

We were out yesterday - my mate had three jacks and two eleven pounders (which could have been the same fish) and I had a fourteen pounder.
Not a bad day.
