Gorgeous fish. Must be from stunningly clear water. I watch a fishing channel on Youtube where the lads occasionally catch pike from a commercial. The coloured water produces such washed out fish.

After all the ice we've had, it's now the turn of snow. 9cm of snow, to be precise (I'm measuring the depth of snow on the table, if you're wondering about the curious pose).

I think for next winter I'm going to invest in a snowmobile and an auger for drilling holes in the ice! Laughing

I am not a real man! I hate getting wet and fitted my punt with brolly mounts at both ends to avoid the blasted rain.

This is what my local commercial (ie, second home in summer) looks like presently.

By the end of this cold spell, I think they'll have lost about 7 complete weeks to ice so far this winter. Tough running a business in those circumstances.

There is no substitute for being comfortable. Once you're wet, you're not going to dry out easily in winter up here, so it pays dividends to stay dry as long as possible.

Agreed. If I'm honest, I don't fish in the rain in winter too much. I've had some good sessions in warmer months, and I fished the wettest day of last year under a brolly sat on a seat box. A warm rain in summer seems to get the carp feeding too.

We're going to need some serious rain to melt the ice up here. I reckon there is 4 inches on my Highland venue, and the thaw we've got coming will no doubt flood the whole place too, upping the water level by up to 5ft. Melt water is awful for fishing, so I'll have to wait for that to settle down too, by which time it'll be spring! Laughing

the fishing here at the moment is dire ,due to all this cold rain its really knocked the fishing for six , even my banker venues has gone dead ... me thinks its all the extra rain water that has chilled the water even colder ,
could be completely something else either way the fishing gone dire .... at least we are not frozen over as of yet
