No Litter Pledge
The amount of litter left at our fishing venues is an embarassment to all anglers. I detest seeing litter on fishing banks and in car parks and around other places frequented by anglers.
As an angler and a representative of this wonderful hobby/sport I would like to start a campaign for all anglers to join me in trying to rid this scurge.
A large number of anglers will not leave litter, but many more do. Believe me when I say that it cannot just be a handful of thoughtless people that litter as I see far too much for that to be true.
Please do not turn turn this thread into an excuse for blame, simply add your name if you can accept the pledge.
I the undersigned pledge to leave no litter on the fishing bank.
Let me be the first.
I, Peb, pledge to leave no litter on the fishing bank.

Re: No Litter Pledge
I am like you both, I NEVER litter the bank or anywhere else...It is a disgrace the amount of litter obviously left by other Anglers, a hell of a lot of Lucebaits, Dynamite Bait bags are seen around here....it is sloppy & lazy! Lager cans & burnt fire ember remains also.
General public & dog walkers etc...can't be impressed

Re: No Litter Pledge
It really pee's me off to see the state of some waters. I have always removed my rubbish and taken away any that is in my chosen swim that wasn't even mine.
One of the many jobs that I've applied for is a part time groundsman at a boating lake. I hope I'm successful.
I just know that I will feel much better going home at the end of my shift knowing I've done some good.

Thanks jeff.
Out of all the jobs I've applied for, this is the only one that I REALLY want to be in.
It involves general housekeeping of the grounds and lake, bailiffing the water, mowing the lawns, keeping an eye on the wildlife and fish, repairs to the buildings and making sure it's safe for the public to visit.
Should hopefully hear something pretty soon as the closing date is 3rd April.

Re: No Litter Pledge
Black bags are part of my bog standard tackle. I got very grumbled access to a loch because I was found pike fishing but tidying up. I had filled 3 bags and I offered a cuppa tea and warm hello before the owners had a chance to speak which probably knocked the wind out of their carefully prepared speech. It doesn't always work. In fact it doesn't work very often but it does occasionally get you fishing in some really good places.

Re: No Litter Pledge
Ho-Ho....I spent the start of my session on Wednesday clearing up after some weekend noddies who had wrecked one of my favourite spots. I filled 4 poly-bags with bottles, toothpaste (why?), a burnt tent, cutlery, cans, remnants of joints, fag-ends, traces, hooks, mono and all kinds of crap that has no business lying around, ruining my and others pleasure. It was a long walk back to the car with all my gear so I left the bags knotted in a neat pile by the side of the field.
I went back on Saturday and took some black-bags and bagged everything up properly this time. Two warden types came down ready prepared with stuff for clearing up the debris but I had beaten them to it. After a chat about the rubbish and the culprits, I was told I was pretty much welcome to be there....well....during the week anyway. There's no fishing allowed, period, but they knowingly fed me enough information for me to know that they they'd only be round at weekends.
I win and with 7 doubles over 2 sessions to show for it, I'd clear up anyone's garbage....lol!

Re: No Litter Pledge
I went for a lure session this evening. No Pike to report
There were two groups of people (non anglers) at the bankside with their cars + a motorbike, having picnics and a drink etc.., both had lit fires I ask you, in the current mild sunny weather too & broad daylight. What the hell is up with people
Before I left I had a wander & checked the fires were burnt out & safe. There is supposed to be a bailiff but I never see him.
