Brian Skoyles has an article, about piking in a carping style, named piarping.
The tale of the Boddington 40 is told.
Anyone else got a copy?

Re: Latest Pikelines
Piarping, Mr Skoyles style, is fishing for pike in a manner that you would normally associate with carping. When faced with a new water you would identify a likely looking swim and fish this swim for one day per week over 5 weeks. The main attack is whole smelt or mackeral tail with mackeral chunks spread around the swim. Imagine baiting up with a couple of dozen boilies and you may get the picture. Brian finds that smelt is a good choice of bait for the first visit with mackeral coming into its own as the weeks go by and the pike get accustomed to finding chunks in the area. Brian feels that 5 weeks is long enough to get an idea of the swims potential and decide to stay or move on.
I hope I got that right as this is all from memory and I only read the piece once.

Yes indeed. There are some good Pike looming in Carp Syndicate waters, Nick, get your bait rods out!
The Boddington Pike is a beastie, isnt it! 40.10 with a proper grin on its face. Don't its fins / Steve Davis's hands & face look pink..? 50 feet from the bank on a Herring.

Re: Latest Pikelines
Maybe I should do an article on spodding for pike then....or long-distance casting with big pits and spod rods, shockleaders and PVA....or groundbaiting for pike....or using feeders.
I've been pirping or carking or whatever it's called for ages...

I bet many others have too Andy
I read many articles that seem to cover old ground but its probably due to my age and having been fishing for 20 years. Sometimes I see a piece that throws new light on a technique.
Some folks have the knack of writing about their experiences and sharing them with a wider audience. The vast majority like to read about it.
Get your article written and sent off to Pikelines and we can share in your spodding for pike.

Maybe I should but I never think to take pictures or even look half presentable. I don't want to scare people...
