last season i bought four of these off Mark Berrisford in the six inch size now after playing with them for six months or so i feel i can comment on them

as a glider they are fairly easy to work with downward taps getting them swapping direction, throw a pause in and they hang for a while before sinking slowly you can fish them more erraticaly to get some rise dive effect too but its not something i do a great deal of with these. fishing them on a straight retrieve gives the bait a gentle side to side motion that is very subtle.

finish wise they are second to none they are on a par with several of the US custom baits i have. they come in several finishes and all have a two pack epoxy coat (envirotex) to give them a durable finish. to top this off they all come fitted with heavy duty stainless fixtures and quality hooks
one other thing to note Marks lures have the added advantage that they are weighted for uk fishing and hence you dont need to use the same degree of speed to get them working as you do with a fair few of the american baits that are aimed at muskie anglers who tend to use speed as a trigger

these and other lures are available from:-

and here are mine in colours i requested

these are easier to work than the salmos ive tried, on top of theat they have a 'wider glide path' and they also sink slower then the sinking versions of the slider and fatso ive had
your right though a lot of anglers like the salmo stuff i dont though as a rule with their bigger lures

ive thought about that and i plan on trying to do videos on you tube to go along with it but at the moment having recently moved and not being on my own pc im struggling once i get round to fixing my own pc ill get them up and post a link to them.

there is nothing out of the ordinary with the way i lure fish anyone who has a suitable jerkbait set up can do it with minimal instruction, the only real skill to master is the casting of a multiplier reel which in the short term is easy to get the basics right.

to work the lures is just a matter of getting the taps of the rod timed right and if you can fish something like a slider then you will have no problems with most glide baits.
Getting some of the more erratic style baits working can be a little more troublesome at 1st but again with a small amount of time you can start getting the best out of them

i'm not to bad with a multiplier, for sea fishing. but for spining i'd preffer a left hand reel. seeing a vid would help.

totaly agree with you here noodle, been using mark,s p.b gliders for a few years now with lots of success, and for the price of them i think there hard to beat.he's even done me a few custom patterns to my choice with out a problem.i also use his wild water floats for boat fishing on some of the big waters up here and again for the price and the finish you get them for there bomb proof Very Happy

It took me about an hour to get my mate working glidebaits. It's really not that hard and if you've already used a multiplier, it'll be a piece of....it'll be easy ok.
The hard part is keeping it mixed up. You start to repeat yourself and then it becomes very predictable. I've heard lots of ideas and variations on how to keep the action mixed up. Phone numbers or favourite tunes are quite good. I prefer tunes myself.

Seriously though, do you give taps and knock in time to a tune you *whistle/hum/sing in your head ?

Give that man a sweetie. It'll keep him occupied and you won't have to entertain any more of his inane patter....lol

Seriously though (if that's at all possible) I DO actually work the rod in time to tunes or even better, wear a set of headphones and listen to something that isn't dance music. I like dance music way more than my neighbour but it's repetitive and it doesn't suit the purpose so Shades Of Rhythm and The Prodigy probably aren't suitable. Well, if I'm being honest, I probably do it less now because I'm well in the habit of mixing it up but you will notice yourself doing the same action. I promise. More so when you're tired or not really paying attention but it's easy to fall into the tap..wind..tap..wind..tap..wind method and it's painfully repetitive. If you're bored, imagine what the pike think. It's so easy to just stand there doing the same thing but you're only wasting your own time.
The tap..wind thing might work on some days and with some lures, you can't do much else but wherever possible, try to have the lure behaving unusually. That's what the pike are attuned to. A dying fish doesn't swim steadily. It's all over the place. It darts, flutters, sinks, stops, zips, turns upside down...it's a mess. That's what pike want and that's what you want your lure doing.
Even straight retrieve lures need more than just winding in. Speed up, slow down, stop, start, sweep the rod left/right, pause....mix it up.
The same goes with crankbaits or plugs (if you still live in 1979). They can and often do work if you simply wind them in and allow the vane to put all the action into the lure but you can wind it, chop it, rip it, pause it, speed it up, pause.....you catch my drift.
Take one of my favourite lures, the Abu Jointed Terminator. That in it's simplest terms is a plug. It has a vane. You wind it slowly and it wiggles all the way in but that's all it does and that's all it'll do on your next cast and the cast after that and the one after. My God, I want to hang myself (I'll double up some Power Pro if I ever have to...I'm not fetching a rope). Get the lure dancing a bit and you have a whole box full of lures right there. Which one do you think the pike want? The one that appears to be swimming strongly or the one that seems to have something wrong with it? I'll have the one that's gubbed thank you.

Gubbed I tell ye.....GUBBED!!
