Abu lure combos

Post  Alex Makk on Fri Nov 20, 2009 5:16 pm

Hey ladies and gent's

I have been looking the internet for a triggergrip rod and a baitcaster. and i have saw a few lure fishing combo's by Abu Garcia.....Blue Max, Black Max and Silver Max. Blue max being the cheapest....Blaxk Max being the reasonbly priced and silver max is the most expensive.......... I have not read any reviews. but if anyone has one of the combos could you tell me if they are any good?

there is a shop on ebay from the states that do the reels in a 'factory reconditioned' condition.

the price dont seem bad nor the postage costs..

Remember at the fish-in that horrible whiny, grating WHEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEGGGGGGGGGGGGGRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRR sound you kept hearing - that was from my ABU Blue max which was only used about 10 times before then. Evil or Very Mad

Now sold.

And it wasn't the braid i was using - it did the same with mono and some other type of braid...

Like centrepins i believe its well worth spending a bit more when it comes to baitcasting reels.

I have an ABU 6601 C4 & it is the "mutts nuts!" About 110 Shocked
Swedish made, a proper multiplier.
It is no good for casting little rubber shads or Mepps Spinners but a reasonable sized lure will cast well. I cast a Zoota that is about 5" long & have no problem. Salmo Sliders cast well, too. There are no noises from this reel, sheer class!
It retrieves fast, so a steady wind is required...

Save your money Alex, it will be worth it....buy cheap & buy twice, as Phil at Walkers of Trowell says...
Agree about the centrepins, tootall. I have an Adcock Stanton one, it may even get used again this Summer. I'm joining a large club with many waters, including the Dove & Derwent Cool

Some good reels at best prices, a 6601 @ 79 is a gift! Wink

I have heard good reports on the Black and silver max. the blue max is a budget of the three.
