Quest: Total fishing

Post  Bazz on Mon Nov 23, 2009 5:21 pm

Old work mate Pete popped in to see me at work today, asked me..

Peter: "do you watch Matt Hayes on Quest channel 38"?

Bazz: "no, can't say I do...., when is it on"?

Peter: "every night 5 until 6pm".

Bazz: "Freeview channel 38"?

Peter: "Yes, on tonight".

Hey, its very good, Total Fishing.. Anybody else watch it? Basketball

Can't say that I've heard of Quest channel but I'll have a look. Matt Hayes' programs are usually good quality.

Yeah, I've watched just about everyone of them so far.

Enjoying it too! Very Happy

Oh yeah, Saturday and Sunday 1-2pm there's also The Ultimate Fishing Show on Quest. That's quite good. A New Zealand guy who goes Big Game and Sport fishing too. Not really relevant to our sport, but good to watch as he gets some real monsters.

Mick Brown was on with a tip tonight, opened up the holes in a blocked end feeder a little & stuffed it with chopped fish, not tightly though. Ok, fish pieces don't escape much but the oils & odours do... bit like a Pike Bomb i suppose Very Happy

Also Max Cottis Carp fishing with Matt Hayes, Max fishes with Brownie & is a good Piker.

Another good thing, it is not a big tackle pushing programme, like the Fox DVD's, bearing in mind Matt develops and promotes Total Fishing Gear (TFG) equipment..

I was pleasantly surprised to see the chopped fish tip as this is similar to an idea i've been toying with.

Liquidize some baitfish and pour it into 35mm film canisters before freezing. When you go fishing, pop one of the frozen 'chum' out of it's canister and put it into a swim feeder.

You then have casting weight, legering tactic and it'll stop the ice from floating away from out of your chosen swim.

As it melts, you get all the juices, blood, and fishy bits (hopefully) attracting mr or mrs pike along for supper What a Face

You could try freezing it with a lead weight inside it with a link to attach to your main line as you would when ledgering so it sinks Wink
